The Simeon Chapel Arches

The Simeon Chapel, All Saint's Church, Calbourne, Isle of Wight. Commissioned by Sir Richard Simeon Bart between 1839-1845, constructed in Bath stone the finely carved tracery and dressed stone columns and arches were carefully dismantled and stored in the crypt of the church in 1978. The slate tablets were reinstated to make good the exposed wall following removal of the arches. Much of the documentation from the 1976 work has survived including architects' dimensioned drawings of the stonework prior to dismantling. MASCo purchased the stonework directly from the church in 2008.
